Today is Matt Fraction’s birthday.
This is the final scene from Casanova: Luxuria, a series he wrote that was illustrated by Gabriele Bá.
In 2010, I interviewed Fraction for an article I wrote about music and comics for OC Weekly in California. I conducted a shitty phone interview, but it was a great conversation.
About a year later, I met him in person at a toy vendor’s booth at C2E2 in Chicago. He was looking for an action figure for his son. I was looking for an action figure … for myself (in my defense, my son is a teenager and has grown out of action figures).
I enjoy Fraction’s work (The Immortal Iron Fist, Iron Man, Five Fists of Science), and I’m glad I had the opportunity to chat with him for so long about comics, process and the Mountain Goats.
Happy birthday, Matt Fraction.

A few pages from one of Adam Hughes’ sketchbooks displaying mainly batman related sketches. They were previously featured on his website but don’t seem to be anymore so I’m posting them here for those who are interested.
Love artists’s sketchbooks.

DC Super Stars #10, featuring Strange Sports Stories, December 1976, cover by Ernie Chan and Tatjana Wood
I have vivid memories of reading this comic as a kid, but I can’t remember what actually happened to it. That’s unusual for me because I’ve still got a ton of my comics that I had from the 1970s.
